Verbena’s Organic Green Bean Casserole

Often, when people see the word “organic,” they assume that it describes bland food that vegans pretend to like. However, nobody will be pretending when they taste this Organic Green Bean Casserole. Green bean casseroles will be on plenty of tables over the holidays but this recipe is so easy to make and so delicious that you can serve it with pride any day!

It is nutritious and tasty—who could ask for more? Well, your guests will, and so will you. Good thing you have the recipe so that you can make more! 

 

Verbena’s Organic Green Bean Casserole

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 can organic condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup organic milk
  • 1 tsp. soy sauce
  • 1/8 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. sea salt
  • 1 organic shallot – thinly sliced
  • 4 cups raw organic French green beans
  • 1 1/3 cups organic French fried onions (Yes, this does exist!)

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.

  2. Wash and clip the ends of the raw green beans. Place the green beans and thinly sliced shallots in a baking dish and toss with sea salt. Roast in the oven for 25 minutes.

  3. Stir together the soup, milk, soy sauce, black pepper, and 2/3 cup fried onions.

  4. Place the roasted green beans in a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish. Pour the soup mixture over the green beans and bake at 350°F for 25 minutes.

  5. Stir the hot bean mixture and sprinkle with the remaining fried onions. Bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the onions are golden brown.

SUGGESTIONS:  Serve warm for best results. Enjoy!
